Knitta Please

Knitting enthusiasts the world over have aligned in a battle against urban blight.  They have combined their unfinished knitting projects and dangerous life-long desire to do something illegal, and become Guerilla Knitters.  One of the crews I came across is called Knitta Please, from  Los Angeles.  They win the contest for best name, I can't stop saying it.  Their website even has profiles of the crew members with names like PolycotN and Mascuknitity.  Here is some of their work from the streets of LA, as well as some guerilla knitting from Europe.
The pink tank cozy is from Denmark.  Knitters sent in squares from all over the world to be stitched together in Denmark as opposition to the war in Iraq.

It's Not Actually Sim City

Jane Jacobs

"There is a quality even meaner than outright ugliness or disorder, and this meaner quality is the dishonest mask of pretended order, achieved by ignoring or suppressing the real order that is struggling to exist and to be served."

Port Credit

This is god-damn wonderful.  Traditional planning would have all these homes backing onto the lake so the developer can fetch a premium, and six or so families can say they live on the lake.  The rest of the community may never have direct access, or ever get to use the area or enjoy the view.
Arranging the homes so they face a road as they've done here in Port Credit Mississauga gives the entire community access, and the assholes at the front still get an amazing view.

Don't tell anyone, but this blog is actually about hip-hop music

According to my brother, "the concrete jungle" has some hip-hop connotations that I should be aware of before naming my blog (too late).  I'm not changing the name.  I looked it up on Wikipedia and the only parallels it draws are between cities (Yes!) and Bob Marley (which I'm okay with.  If you have a problem with Bob Marley, there is probably something wrong with you).  So all is well, crisis averted, this is not a blog concerned with hip-hop, Wikipedia wouldn't lie about that.  Now let's get down to business.
